Aesthetic Medicine is a field of medicine dealing with the improvement of the physical appearance. An improvement in appearance means an improvement to one’s own well-being. The main task of aesthetic medicine is to stop our biological clock. There has been tremendous progress in this field of medicine in recent years. Once, facial wrinkles added to the subtlety of the face. Now they are a sign of aging.

Aesthetic treatments are nowadays more and more commonly and successfully performed in dental offices. A beautiful smile is achieved with the following treatments: lip contouring, lip enlargement, facial wrinkle filling, or Botox treatments. All of those treatments help to rejuvenate the face.

BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin Type A)

Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a proven safe and effective product used in medicine for many years. It is injected into the muscles in small amounts and causes their relaxation.
Botox is an effective treatment for eliminating facial wrinkles.

The most common areas treated with Botox include:

– The forehead

– The Frown Line

– Crow’s Feet around the eyes

– Smoker’s Lines around the mouth

– The masseter muscle area in clenching disorder treatments

– The neck line

– The eyebrow area, resulting in a younger appearance and causing “eye opening”

– Wrinkles and folds on the chin and neck

The treatment effects in a muscle relaxation and thus a beautiful, radiant and rested appearance.

In dentistry, Botox is also used to treat bruxism, or excessive teeth clenching and grinding. Apart from special splints and mouth guards, muscle relaxation treatment using Botox is very helpful for bruxers in the treatment of masseter muscles.

Botox treatment commences with a precise muscle examination to identify the sites where the toxin shall be used. The compound is injected using disposable syringes with very thin, small needles, making it a painless procedure. The effects are visible after a few days, so the final result of the visit may be evaluated only after 10 – 14 days. The effect lasts for about 4 to 6 months, that is why the treatment needs to be repeated twice a year.

Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide naturally present in the human skin. One of its main features is binding water molecules and thereby maintaining proper tissue hydration. The amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases over the years. The wrinkle filling treatment involves supplementing the hyaluronic acid to restore a satisfactory skin tissue hydration, which is destroyed by skin folding occurring during facial muscle movement.

The hyaluronic acid used in the wrinkle filling treatment is synthetic, so no risk of allergy exists.

In our clinic, we use the computer – controlled WAND anaesthetic system for anaesthesia to provide patients with maximum comfort and minimum of pain.

The filling procedure itself is short, and takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

Lip enlargement and modelling and lip contouring treatments are currently very popular, especially in dental offices. Beautiful, full and regularly shaped lips are the wishes of many women. The lips lose their firmness over the years due to the decrease of hyaluronic acid content. Narrow, dry lips give make our face look older.
